アメリカ留学（一年間）終えて感じたこと

On March 15th  I went to Chicago with my school friends.

First, We went to "Hard Rock Cafe" for lunch.  I ate

caesar salad.  It was pretty good.

Next, We went to watch the play called "Wicked". 

Do you know this play?  Have you ever heard that?

Anyway, I really liked it.  I think it is very famous

in here.  After that we went shiopping for " Water

Tower", I guess.  I had a good time in Chicago.

On April 6th I went to a grade school for presentation

with another exchange student from Japan.

We went to all the classes and taught Japanese.

For example, how to say colors, numbers and

people's names in Japanese.  The students asked

us the questions like,

"What sports is the most popular in Japan?",

"How do you like in here!, "Do you like American

food?"  They asked us so many questions.  I had

a good experience with them.

On April 16th we had  Easter Day.  Do you know

what they do on  Easter Day?

We had a party.  At the party I ate special food for the

Easters.  After that I picked up eggs with little kids.

That surprised me a lot.  They are special eggs,

inside of them is snack.

３月１５日に学校の友達とシカゴへ行きました。まず、

「ハードロックカフェ」で昼食をすませました。

和はシーザーサラダを食べました。まあまあおいしかったです。

それから、「Wicked」（悪いとか意地悪なという意味）という

劇を見ました。これ、聞いたことありますか？とにかく、

劇はとても良かったです。この劇はこちらでは非常に

有名のようです。劇を見た後、私たちは「Water Tower」に

買い物に行きました。シカゴでは楽しいひとときを過ごしました。

日本から来ているもう一人の留学生と、プレゼンをするために、

ある小学校に行きました。４月６日だったと思います。

私たちは、その小学校の全クラスをまわって、日本語を

教えました。色や数や、人の名前の言い方など。

生徒たちは私たちにたくさん質問をしてくれました。

例えば、「日本で今一番人気のあるスポーツは？」

とか、「ここを気に入りましたか？」とか、

「アメリカの食べ物は好きですか？」とか・・・・。

たくさんの質問に答えるのってとても良い経験です。

４月１６日にはイースター（キリストの復活祭）をしました。

イースターの時のパーテイーには特別な食べ物が用意されます。

それから、子どもたちとイースターエッグを拾いました。

以前には、子どもたちの為に親御さんたちは２００〜３００個の

イースターエッグを作ったこともあるそうです。

イースターエッグは卵の形をしていますが、中はお菓子なのです。

From March 2nd to 8th, I went to Washinton D.C. and New York.

I visited a lot of interesting museums and enjoyed shopping!!

Of course, it was a big city, I saw many Japanese people there.

I saw  "the Statue of Liberty".  It was so nice!!!

I was very excited to see the real Stateu of Liberty.  It was one

of my dreams to see it. So I was very happy. 

And I went to the Broadway.  I saw Opera's Mystery Man or

something like it.

I really enjoyed the play.  The trip was so much fun!!!

Now I came  back and I am here in my host parents' house.

I play softball in my school.  I am thinking of changing the club

from softball  to track,  because it is difficult for me to

understand the rules to play it.

Anyway, I'm having fun here.  I don't know exactly what I've

learned  here, but I feel I've changed a little.  I thought I was

more childish  when I was in Japan.   Bu now,  I began to think

that I have become  more adult-like.

私は３月２日から８日の間、ワシントンＤ．Ｃ．とニューヨークに

行きました。興味深い博物館を訪れたり、ショッピングを楽しんだり

しました。　もちろん、両方とも大都市なので、たくさん日本人に

会いました。私は本物の「自由の女神」を見るのが、大きな夢のうち

の一つだったので、それを目にしたときはすごく興奮しました。

それからブロードウェーに行き、「オペラズ　ミステリーマン」

とか言う劇を見ました。私はこの劇が大変気に入りました。今度の

旅行は本当に良かったです。

今は旅行から帰り、ホームステイ先の家にいます。

毎日を楽しんでいます。学校でソフトボール　を始めたのですが、

私にはルールなどがむずかくてよく理解できません。

だから、クラブを陸上に変わろうかと思っています。

私はこちらに来てから、ずいぶん色々なことを学んだと思います。

以前日本にいた頃は、もっと自分が子どもっぽかったように思います。

具体的にどれがどうということではないのですが、自分が以前より

大人になったような気がするのです。

高二アメリカ留学体験記第三回

現在アメリカ・イリノイ州に短期留学されている、当教室生徒の森谷友利恵さんが送って下さったリポート第三回をお届けします。カリフォルニアへの旅行の事が書かれています。今回は和訳も付けました。

In February, I went to the party with my friends.

The party was called  "Mid Winter Dance."

It was so fun!!"  We talked and danced with

everybody at the party.  We  had to wear  black

and white dress.  So I was wearing a black

dress.  I had a very good time there.

I also went to California with my host mom

for about 5 days.  I stayed in San Diego. 

There was a beautiful beach there.  On the

first day,  we went to the Sea World.  It was

 like "aquarium".  It's famous for a sea

animal called  "killer whale".  We enjoyed

the show of killer whales.  It was so cool!!

I loved it. And on another day, I went to the

wild animal zoo.  It was a cool place, too. 

I rode on the tram around the zoo, so I

could see many  kinds of aminals there. 

That was awsome!!!  And I went to a

Japanese restaurant and ate a lot of

sushi.  It  tasted so good!!!

二月には、友達とパーテイーをしました。そのパーテイーは

"Mid Winder Dance"（真冬のダンス）という名前です。

とっても楽しかった！！パーテイーに来たみんなと話したりダンスをしたりしました。このパーテイーでは全員黒か白の服を着なければダメなんです。だから私は黒いドレスを着ていました。

それから、私はホストファミリーのお母さんと五日間、カリフォルニアに行きました。サンデイエゴに泊まりました。ここにはとても美しい海岸があります。　最初の日にシーワールドに行きました。シーワールドは水族館のようなところです。このシーワールドはキラーホェールという海の動物で有名で、そのショーも見ました。大変素晴らしかったです。すごく気に入りました。

また、別の日に、野生動物園にも行きました。ここもすごく大きく、大変良かったです。　それから、日本料理のレストランにも行ったんですよ。私はたくさんお寿司を食べました。　とってもおいしかったです！！

現在、アメリカに短期留学されている、当教室生徒の森谷友理恵さんが、アメリカの高校生活の様子をメールで送って下さいました。

今回は第二便をお送り致します。

Every school has a "school symbol."  My school' symbol is

"Flying Geese" and the school color is green.  So many

students wear  green clothes.

Now we are in the basketball season, so every Friday there is

 a basketball game.  It is a lot of fun!!!  I really like it.  Many

players' parents and  grandparents go to the game, too. 

We can buy some drinks, pizza, snack, and ice cream

in the school cafeteria.  Next sproting events are track

and baseball.

I live with my host parents, host mom and host dad. 

They have children, but they have already gone out

to live in other places.  My host father's job is

 farming.  He has a lot of cows, so I can see them

 every day.

My host mom works in a company.  She comes back

 home at 4 o'clock. We talk about "How was today

doing" after she comes back.  She helps me with

 my homework a lot.  My host dad teaches me how

to play softball because I will join in a softball

team soon.  I'm excited about that.

On weekend, most of the time, we go shopping to

a city.  Every Sunday my family goes to church.

 We stay there about one hour, and sing songs

and listen to the stories about the Bible.

My host parents have many children and

 grandchildren.  On special occasion, they come

to our house and stay overnight.  That is so fun

because kids are interested in me and ask me

 a lot of question about Japan.  Some Japanese

animations are famous in the USA.

オックスフォード・キッズクラブ・ツアー横浜に参加　　　　　　　　　　　    

２月１１日（土）に横浜メデイアセンターホールで開催されたオックスフォード・キッズクラブツアーに参加しました。私の先生でもある、ゴードン・タフト氏が　Oxford Reading Tree のプレゼンテーションを担当しました。

Oxford　Reading Tree　とは、イギリスに住む、５人家族の日常生活を暖かいタッチで描いた、楽しい絵本のシリーズです。当教室では、３年生以上のの小学クラスで毎回読み聞かせを行っています。

高２アメリカ留学体験記第一回

Hello!! My name is Yurie Moriya. I’m 16 years old.  I have been

studying English for about 6 years.  I am from Kanagawa, Japan. 

I go to Sagami Women’s University  High  School.  I　came to the

United States on 7/31 last year.

First, I went to North Dakota.  I studied English there a little. 

I went to school with many other exchange students from

different countries.  We went to a lot of interesting places

together.  I had a good time there.

Now I am staying in NEPONSET, a small town in Illinois.

This place is in a country and many farmers live there. 

There are huge bean fields and corn fields around my house. 

 If you don’t have a car, you can’t go shopping. 

It is very comfortable to live here because people are so nice!!!!

Every day I use school bus to go to school. You know

the yellow bus!!!!  It takes about 1　hour to go to school. 

Why?  It is because other schools’ students use the same

bus.　The first class starts at 8:10 and the last class

ends at 2:53 every day.  One class is 1 hour and half long. 

Our school has A day and B day schedules.  On A day,

 I take PE, Spanish, Agriculture, Sawing. 

On B day, I take Chorus, History, English and Art.

I think History, English, Agriculture and Spanish are

very difficult to me.  However, Spanish is very interesting

for me.  I learn a lot every time. We have to do homework

every day, so it takes a long time to finish it. 

It is good for us, exchange students because we can

 learn many valuable words!!!!

キッズ、中高生、一般英会話クラスの三種類に大きく分かれています。

各クラスの編成、特徴はこちらです。

幼稚園児クラス

英語の音とリズムを中心に学び、自然に遊びの中で英語が身に付くように指導していきます。小さいお子さんは強制してもあまり効果はなく、楽しく遊んでいるときに一番頭に入って行くものです。ゲームやアクテｲビテｲが中心です。

小学１〜３年生クラス

言語の習得には繰り返しが不可欠です。歌やチャンツ（リズムのついたお話）で英語に慣れ親しみ、少しずつ英語が身近になった頃を見計らって、アルファベットの読み方の学習（フォニックス）を導入します。３年生のクラスでは、英語の絵本の読み聞かせを毎回行います。

小学４〜６年生クラス

英語のおもしろさがわかってくる高学年では、基礎になる知識を中心に、授業を進めます。英語を体得できたら、今度は定着です。フォニックス学習では、単語の読み方、書き方を学びます、絵本が自力で読めてくると、英語学習のおもしろさは倍増です。

中学クラス

英会話コーナー（３０分）がプラスされた、ユニークなシステムを取っています。教科書だけでは学習しきれない応用力、リスニング、スピーキング力を養成します。英会話の時間は英語のみの授業です。教科書中心の時間は、プリントを使用して、自力で習得するシステムです。質問があれば、いつでもお答えします。

高校クラス

各高校教科書が異なりますので、教科書に合ったオリジナルプリントを当教室で作成しております。定期試験対策も、当教室で、独自のものを毎回作成しております。ご希望に応じて、こちらも英会話コーナー開設致します。

一般英会話クラス

英語のみの授業です。まず、英語を聞き、そのまま理解することに慣れて頂き、それから話すことに結びつけていきます。たくさん聞き、たくさん発話して頂くことをポイントにおいております。

はじめまして。講師の横溝です。
